OHOP - Bacon Obsession Continues
Original House of Pancakes has bacon pancakes. Good god make it stop.
Well, these tasty guys aren’t what I, or anyone for that matter, needs but I don’t care. They were quite good. Slather on some butter and pour on some syrup and you’re headed to Coronary Bypassville in no time. Oh bacon, you’re like some wonderful drug that I just can never quit because you’re so...
Jerry's Famous Deli
So I wasn’t on tour when I ate at Jerry’s, but I wasn’t home either; Joe and I were taken to there by our good friends Rupert and Mandi to the OC location, so it technically counts! Anyways, Jerry’s has all the New York favorites that a Jew like me has enjoyed for years, like matzo ball soup, corned beef, kreplach, egg creams and Reuben’s. And an egg cream and Reuben...
Primanti revisited - Last AP Tour entry!
So on the Gig Life tour I Road Nom’ed Primanti Brothers in Ft. Lauderdale. It’s a great spot, but it started in Pittsburgh, which was where the last date of the AP Tour was. And sure enough there was Primanti’s just a couple blocks away from the venue. And sure enough I ate there. And it was great.
This time I devoured a corn beef with cheese and egg. And just like...
Tim Horton's
Ok so I know in a couple of my last posts I talk about the importance of one-of-a-kind, ma and pa type eateries and how chains are lame. And I still think they are. But for this entry I’m gonna discuss the awesomeness of a huge Canadian chain called Tim Horton’s. Whatever, it’s my blog and I can talk about anything I want.
Anyways, if you’re Canadian, or maybe even an...
Artichoke
My gastronomical adventures in New York City concluded at a small pizza shop near Irving Plaza called Artichoke. Artichoke only serves up 3 kinds of pizza: artichoke, crab and margherita. Now we all know NYC has the best pizza in the world (Chicago is up there too, but we won’t get into a deep dish discussion right now) but Artichoke’s slices were on a different level than most of what...
My life before and after Katz's
Katz’s is a world famous deli in the Lower East Side of New York City known not only for the being the restaurant in which Meg Ryan fakes an orgasm in “When Harry Met Sally” but also for their not-of-this-world, mouth-watering pastrami. On the day of our show at Irving Plaza that’s exactly what Mikey and I had, and I don’t think my life will ever be the same.

Viva Cuba
My friends Idell and Stephen have lived in New York for a couple years now, and when I told them I was going to be in the city, they told me they were taking me to a great Cuban spot called Cafe Habana so I could Road Nom it. I love it, I already got people taking me to new spots so I can blog about it! (Hey if anyone else wants to do this let know; I’m always down for new places to Road...
Red Bamboo
Red Bamboo in New York City is a place that I had been hearing about for a couple years by friends and even my girlfriend as being one of the best vegetarian spots they’ve ever tried. We had an off day in the Big Apple so a few of us in SYG as well as some of the You Me At Six guys trekked down to this spot to try it out.
I was planning on meeting my friends in a bit for some food so I...
The original hamburger
This is Louis’ Lunch in New Haven, CT and apparently it’s where the hamburger was created around the turn of the century. It’s pretty hard thinking of a hamburger-less America, but there was a time when that was the case. Since I’m always on the lookout for interesting places to Road Nom, this one didn’t require much thought.
I was joined again by Luis of Secret...
Boulevard Diner
I love a good french toast and on our way to Boston today we stopped in Worcester at the Boulevard Diner where I some great french toast.
They made their’s out of sourdough which I think is so much better than white or wheat bread. I love how the bread itself gets kind of soggy and squishy, but the crust stays nice and firm with sourdough french toast. Boulevard’s did exactly that....
The buffalo roam in my stomach
After our Albany show on the AP Tour we hit up another diner, the Latham 76 Diner. They had a decent selection of standard diner eats, but nothing that really caught my eye. Until I saw they served a buffalo burger. Oh yes, that would be mine.
Buffalo burgers are actually pretty good; this was probably my third time eating one. As you might expect they’re kind of like normal hamburgers...
Gianna's
If you’ve been to Philadelphia and you haven’t had a cheesesteak than you have some serious explaining to do. It’s the city’s signature food and it’s great. Chopped steak and cheese all on top of a roll? Seems like a no-brainer to me. Gianna’s near South Street serves up a pretty decent one, but I’ll admit the last cheesesteak I got there was way better...
Crepe Cellar (Urban Spoon FTW)
Some of you iPhone users are probably aware of Urban Spoon, the app that helps you choose what and where to eat based on criteria like location, price and preference. When SYG rolled into Charlotte we didn’t really know what we wanted to eat, so Mikey busted out his Urban Spoon and it led us to a little gem called Crepe Cellar. We weren’t aware of it beforehand, but this was destined...
Stratton's
Stratton’s Diner near Nashville is the epitome of classic American diner. They have all the cool old Coca-Cola metal posters from the 50’s and a bunch of other stuff like that all over the walls to give that old nostalgic feel. And of course they have classic diner food to back it up. Burgers, fries, shakes…I’m sure you pretty much know what to expect. This being the South...
Leaving on that midnight train
Chicken. And waffles. Who came up with this unholy alliance? Who cares?! Gladys Knight sure doesn’t. I sure don’t. Neither does Luis Dubuc, better known as The Secret Handshake, and my Road Nom partner of the day when we cruised to Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles spot in Atlanta (Gladys Knight is the legendary soul singer who sang with The Pips and recorded the hit...
