Da-Lat in Worcester
On the day of our show in Worcester, Mass I was taken by my friends in the Swellers to a really good little Vietnamese spot called Da-Lat. Living in the Bay Area I have access to some of the best Vietnamese food in the States, but Da-Lat definitely holds its own to places I’m used to.
I started out with this coconut bubble tea. Probably one of the best I’ve ever had…it was all...
Adventures in WAWA-Land
In certain states on the east coast there is a store that essentially mixes Subway with 7-11. It’s called WAWA and it’s one of SYG’s favorite food stops. They seriously have so much awesome cheap food to choose from. You can get sandwiches, soups, salads, chili and more and the coolest part is you just order it from a little touch-screen. The rest of the store is basically a...
Triple Stacked Burger
This is the Triple Stacked Burger I got at a TGI Fridays near Boston. It’s a burger that has cheese, bacon AND ham and it’s probably responsible for taking a couple years off of my life. There’s no logical reason to be eating something like this but it sounded so good I couldn’t help myself. And Friday’s came through…it was awesome! Which is not good because...
LOBSTER
Yeah that’s right…Matt Wilson and I ate lobster when we were Portland, Maine. We don’t fuck around.
Poutine all day!
When you’re in Montreal there’s no two ways around it…you have to eat poutine. For all who are uneducated poutine is fries covered with gravy and cheese curds. It’s a staple of the Canadian diet, and you can’t find it better than in Montreal. I love the stuff so much I had to have it twice while I was there.
I picked up this generous portion at a pizza shop across...
Achieving Nirvana in Toronto
What we have here is a dish called Glass Noodles from a pretty cool spot in Toronto, Ontario called “Nirvana”. Pretty presumptuous name for a restaurant, but it was actually good. This dish (which was half-eaten by the time I remembered to take a picture of it…damn you hunger for making me forget important blog protocol!) had little tasty translucent noodles (hence the name...
THE ALMIGHTY CRACKER BARREL
Ah Cracker Barrel. By far my favorite of the big American chain restaurants. Every time I eat at CB I come out satisfied. We don’t have ANY of these in California, but it’s undoubtedly the most “American” restaurant. I love it.
Our first CB stop of Gig Life was in Joliet, IL on the way to Chicago. I knew what I wanted the second I sat down…catfish. The Barrel makes...
B-DUB-DUB
Another favorite spot of my band’s is the almighty haven of “Wings, Beer and Sports”, Buffalo Wild Wings. If you love good chicken wings and burgers and being constantly bombarded by plasma screens blaring full coverage of different sporting events then you probably have already been to BWW. We go there almost any chance we can when on tour, especially since there are none in the...
WAFFLE HOUSE!
Oh my lord it’s my first post from the Gig Life tour! So far the tour has been awesome, and the food excellent as always. And of course it’s only fitting that my first post from this US tour is about one of the best and greasiest spots in the country….WAFFLE HOUSE. If you’re American and you haven’t been to Waffle House….well, you might not be American. At any...
